Thanksgiving Time in Music City

The week started off depressing as ever! I still am trying to figure out how in the world I am coming up with the 5 thousand dollars I need to pay for my school. This had me on a continuous roller coaster of sorrow and joy/hope for I knew that 5 grand is a lot of money to raise in such a short time, but I also know that God is good. Some really interesting things happened. My mother offered to sell her boat and give me half of the money towards school. My Fiancee happened to offer me all of the money she had been saving up for our wedding and suggested we could just elope! I then walked into class where I heard a sermon from a student I am in preaching school with that was all about accepting the gifts that God gives you. He was given a car from a family one time because his got wrecked. It really made me think about the offers I had received just the day before. I haven't decided yet if I will be taking my mother or Kari up on those, but I do know that God is good. As the week went by and everyone left for Thanksgiving I was staying in town. I got a voice mail all be it to late from a professor of mine who invited me to have Thanksgiving with her family. I had already committed to going with Kari for breakfast and then a lunch across town. The day after Thanksgiving I spent some quality time at church preparing for Advent Season. I got on a huge ladder and hung some cool fabric at the tip top of the church and did some other odd jobs throughout the church. Kari was out shopping :(. Eventually Sunday rolled around and the sermon was so good. I have been going to my church for almost four years exactly and I hear Alan speak every week, but today there was something just very special about it all. It was one of those services where after the sermon a bunch of people stood up and testified to God working in and around their lives. Alan even through in some of the funniest jokes ever told from a pulpit today. Trust me there was no better way to make the Hide your kids Hide your Wives song fit into a sermon than the way Alan did it today! He had the younger people laughing all morning. I ended up having a wonderful day of sermon preparation and fun with my Fiancee and I just have to say that God is good. Which is a great thing seeing as The Titans were shut out against a division rival today :(. Well tomorrow I get to finally preach to my class the passage from Luke 11. Wish me luck and until next time -Just Jon
